VC Shirts

Some work I did for the band Veridian Cityscape. They're from Montreal, and hockey is everything, so they wanted a twist of their initials in the Habs logo itself.

I added some varisty style text and textures to make it look vintage.
Hope you all like it!

Sour Wine & Cheese

Started out good and then by the end it turned into one big disaster.

Anyways I snapped some reference photos then rendered my illustration it with warm grey Tria markers. Not sure why, but I absolutely hate the Tria brand, whatever happened to the old school Letraset markers? Those were the bomb, maybe I'll invest in some Copic markers next year.

Stuff I learned:
- Don't rush with markers especially wet on wet (black smudges)
- Don't create a background with markers unless you've sketched it first
- Don't overlap too many shades, or you get that wash off shiny effect
- AVOID black contour lines when trying to achieve realism (bad habit!)
- Figure out your highlights before coloring in the whole piece
- Make sure to have something solid if you do fill in highlights

Water Colors: White on White

This project was a lot different from the last watercolor project, which you can see in my previous post. The assignment was dedicated to white on white, and apparently I did a good job (according to my teacher) So I'm a bit happy how this turned out.

Anyways I had a lot of trouble at first and this was my second attempt at white on white, by then I had a better understanding of cool and warm colors. I def want to try on some new paintings using this same technique

scanned version does no justice for the actual painting itself

Water Colors: Old and New

This was a project dedicated to black on white with watercolors. What made the project interesting was the whole Old and New concept. Basically choose one old item, render it with watercolors and then create the same object but new.

I didn't quite understand the whole concept at first, but still managed to do a good job for a medium I'm definitely not used to.

I ended up using a dry brush technique to get that sort of rust like look. I really like how my old Axe came out in comparison to the new one. Love the type of effects you can get with water colors, either way I still have lots to learn

More Moleskin

These are pretty old, well in the sense that they're from 2010 and we're now approaching 2011

I really hesitated on uploading these just because they're not up to my standards. In fact my 2010 moleskin sketches seem to be my worst, and I'm pretty disappointed how these turned out, couldn't I have been a bit more creative? Anyways I didn't want to upload them but I did, just because I enjoy documenting my sketches (good or bad) and the leap of progression, or lack of.

These are just a few snippets from my 2009 sketches, not much if you ask me, but in my defense I have more then one moleskin and tend to draw in whichever ones lying closest. I guess I shouldn't be too hard on myself, after all they're just doodles from thoughts, observations, inspirations, ideas, events, etc... Here's a cool fact though, all of these doodles were done while I waited to meet with people, either at coffee shops, metros or parks. I guess thats the only time I draw ha

Illustrated Travel Ads

First off, let me say that the scan quality came out pretty bad. It makes all the marker rendering quite grainy, and I'm not happy with that.

Anyways our class project consisted of us illustrating 4 travel ads with markers on letraset paper. I ended up doing "Unique Sports" that are specific to it's location. My favorite one is the Mexico ad, but not the scanned version. If it was only possible to make a copy just as smooth as the original.

Model Study

This is just a study in photoshop with some live models we had in class.
I'll see where this takes me. Still need to work on some of the proportions.
